What is UKCA?
UKCA, whose full name is United Kingdom Conformity Certified, is a new product certification launched after Brexit. Electronic and electrical products entering the UK market need to pass the standard test under British regulations and obtain UKCA certification certificate, and the products are marked with UKCA logo to replace the use of EU CE logo in the UK market.
UKCA is the abbreviation of UK Conformity Assessed. On February 2, 2019, the British government announced that it would adopt the UKCA logo scheme in the absence of an agreement to leave the European Union. After March 29, the trade with Britain will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The British government announced the launch of a new conformity mark UKCA (which stands for conformity assessment in the UK). When certain products such as automobiles, aerospace, pharmaceutical products, medical devices, chemicals, and articles controlled by national laws and regulations (uncoordinated articles) are sold in the British market after Brexit, they will not be able to continue to use EU norms and conformity marks.
UKCA execution time:
● Before January 1, 2021.
Products put into the British market can continue to use the EU CE logo without logo update.
● From January 1, 2021.
The UKCA flag can be used.
● Before January 1, 2022
During the one-year transition period, the market can still use the CE logo, but it needs to be gradually transitioned.
● From January 1, 2022.
The CE mark will not be recognized in the UK, and the products need to comply with the relevant British rules and carry the UKCA mark before they can be sold in the UK.
